Snow

Yesterday we woke (since there was noone snoring in our room) to snow. Portia was very excitted, me not so much. Our original plan had been to hike to the top of Mt Tampa, it's supposed to be a fun hike and great views from the top. When we got to the trail head the snow was melting on the ground and after a full night of snow and rain the trail was a muddy mess. Considering our lack of availabilty of a shower and change of clothes, we took the tram instead. The tram takes you to the top of the mountain next to the hollywood style sign that Portia mentioned, the view were incredible but it was so cold and windy we didn't stay long. Back at the bottom of the mountain, we wandered Brasov for the rest of the morning, we stopped by the Black Church and went up and down all the cute side streets, finding tons of places that we could have eatten the night before.

We did stop to get hot chocolate so we could warm our hands. Their version of hot chocoate and ours is a bit different. I think they gave us pudding made with steamed milk. It was very hot, liquid and thick at the start and ended up needing to be eatten with a spoon at the end. Plus it tasted like pudding. But it was hot and chocolate and it warmed our hands. We gathered some food for the train ride home (we found it helps pass the time to have numerous small snacks placed at intervals) and found a cute pastry chain that seems to be everywhere in Romania. We did manage to get to the Mexican restaurant that we heard about last night, though neither of us had Mexican. They don't have refried beans and there was cottage cheese on a lot of things... Anyway, the restaurant also has a "music menu" with a whole bunch of CDs listed and you can pick one for the restaurant to listen to. There were some interesting selections.

The train ride back was long and a bit boring, but we survived (remember we had the pastries). Our cab driver actually took us straight to the clinic and now we know how they are supposed to get here so that is a plus for the future. Not sure what we will be doing today but I'm sure someone will tell us. More later. -Becca
