- First flight Northwest (run by KLM) to Amsterdam (Netherlands) ran a few minutes late - they arrived 8:22am local time - don't believe they got much sleep on this leg
- From Amsterdam to Bucharest (Romania) again on KLM - Portia slept most of the way and got to see snow on the mountain tops during descent
- Once in Bucharest they successfully navigated (with help from some locals) the bus to get from airport to subway, then the subway to the train station (I may have mixed up the order, but will let the girls correct me later)
- Current time 4:08pm (Romania time is 8 hours ahead of us in Texas/Central time) this is where they called us.
- 6:40 train to Constanta - this is where they will be working, I understand it is a smaller town and is on the Black Sea
General notes: they sounded good and the phone card Portia bought cost 15 leu (Romania currency) and a quick google search (which does currency conversion) told me that this phone card cost a bit over $6 (she estimated $7, but not sure if she converted money which would have cost more then perhaps a credit/debit card transaction).
What I was surprised of was that this only lasted us 8 minutes ;) Needless to say, we will be looking for opportunities to use Skype later on in her trip if they have an Internet connection at the clinic (where I believe they will be living)

I neglected to add in the main post, Portia did comment on how it wasn't as cold as she expected. I kinda noticed this last night when I added the local weather in Romania (see right hand side of the blog)
