Hello all from Brasov. We made it here late last night. Yesterday was one of those days where you spend all day getting ready for things that don't happen. Clinic was supposed to start by 10 and we started the day productive, emailed people, booked our hotel, went to the grocery store. Then when we went to the clinic no one was there, we were told then that clinic would start at 11. Not so much, it kept getting pushed back until 1230 - somewhat problematic since our train left at 230. We saw 3 patients with an ID specialist, just basic HIV maintenance. Cristina had to translate everything for us and I felt bad that she had to spend her time doing that instead of her work. After clinic, we ate a hurried lunch then stood by the road to wait for bus 303. During our wait, we decided to learn another bus route next week.
At the train station, we got our tickets without incident and boarded our 9 hour train to Brasov. Along the way I realized it took us less time to get from Houston to Amsterdam. Overall the train wasn't bad, we had brought stuff to do and managed to get a private compartment which was really nice. Our Brasov taxi driver took us straight to the hostel so they beat out the ones in Constanta. The hostel is basic, but there is internet, english speaking staff and breakfast so I can't complain. I think one of the other people in our room has obstructive sleep apnea, from all of the snoring last night and the pauses and breathing. I sort of fell that I should tell them to go to their doctor... Well, off to the castles now. More later. - Becca
