Bus 303

:-) We are finally getting things a little more organized and settled. Yesterday we learned the joys of the local bus system. They are white vans that run around town, but in Romania they are very safe (unlike Africa), take an actual route, are clean, and best of all cheap (plus they don't rip you off). Bus 303 will get you to downtown and Tomas mall. I felt so at home. Brands I recognized, good restaurants, and a movie theater with engligh movies!!! We got a SIM card for our phone. Incoming calls are free for us so:

We got groceries yesterday as well. The grocery store has the oddest assortment of things, pate in a tube, quail eggs, and lots of Vodka. There is Vodka everywhere. Plus lots of Coke Zero. We are learning the joys of cooking with only a microwave, and watching DrQuinn Medicine woman cause that is what is on in English. There is the channel that plays nothing but Romanian folk songs with a man in a white suit dancing... :-)

We had a tour of the clinic this morning. Looks like we will be in clinic in the mornings with the infectious disease docs, most afternoons will be free, and several days we are arranging trips out into the community. We will be able to visit the infectious disease hospital, schools hopefully, and a living center for children with HIV. The clinic itself provides services free of charge including: medicines, medical visits with TB/Infectious disease/OB-GYN and a dentist. They also offer vocational skills and counselling. There is a part of the clinic dedicated to outreach and education.
