Last two days

Disclaimer: I am typing this on a keyboard where none of the punctuation is where it normally is and not marked so I have not figured it all out yet. Plus the z is on the y key and visa versa so if punctuation or spelling is worse than usual, I am doing my best.

The last two days have been primarily taken up by a conference (in English!!!) that they were having on setting up research studies and good clinical practice. Everyone else was going from clinic so we went. Plus there were cookies and Fanta. Yesterday, we stopped by the art museum downtown. They have a traveling show there now called Share Your Hope where artists from all over the world have painted their representation of hope. It was interstesting and fun to see a different part of Constanta. It is prettier down around the museums and we are planning on trying to go to that area today.

Last night, we ventured back along bus 303 to the Tomis mall area. We stopped for pizza at a place that looked like it was trying to be a 50s diner. They still allow smoking inside restaurants which is a bit annoying. We got a total of 4 different menus. One with pizza, calzones, pasta and sandwiches, two with different ice creams and one with what looked like different puddings. Not sure since it was in Romanian. My calzone was good but Portias pizza came without sauce and she was offered sweet or hot ketchup. We thought surely this was pizza sauce and we were missing the translation. Nope, it was ketchup, sort of tasted like BBQ and ketchup per Portia. She dipped her pizza in it, but when we looked at the table next to us they were pouring the ketchup all over their pizza. I am glad the calzone came with tomato sauce. We then walked to the mall and watched a movie. I was again struck how everyone here, from music to clothing and hair styles, looks like they came out of the 80s. Today we explore Constanta, we have a computer in our room which is great for the weekend. More later. Becca

Have you tried any of the Romanian beer? Is beer popular over there or do most just drink vodka. What about wine. A nice red wine with your ketchup pizza may just be the thing to add to your dining experience. I would ask about fresh sea food but I know better than to ask Becca. Have you found peanut butter yet.Remember to bring me a bottle of Vodka. Also when in Turkey bring a bottle, if you can of the favorite drink (assuming since most of Turkey is Muslum, their drink of choice may be Water so in that case forget Turkey.
